Case: 15 October 2016
Summary
A closed stratocumulus cloud deck with embedded drizzle and subcloud precipitation
Description
A widespread cloud deck over the ENA main site with embedded intervals exhibiting heavier drizzle that reached the surface. The boundary layer flows were predominantly northeasterly to easterly. There were upper-level clouds observed from SEVIRI that remained outside of the more immediate Azores modeling domains. The cloud deck was persistent over the main ENA site throughout the day, with thinning of the deck observed to the south of the islands. Inversion height at approximately 1.8 km AGL.
