Summary

Widespread cloud deck with an increasing cloud top height throughout the event

Description

This was a widespread stratocumulus cloud deck event collected during the ACE-ENA campaign. This multi-day event featured light precipitation during the early morning hours on April 4th, as well as additional and more intense precipitation later on that day. The cloud deck was observed on April 4th to have an increasing cloud top height throughout the day. The cloud deck then remains relatively consistent in its level throughout the day on April 5th. An Azores high was located just north of the region, lending to relatively weak easterly flow over the islands that gradually shifts to northerly by April 5th. Inversion height at approximately 1.5 km AGL at event start.
